On May 16, 2006, I was honored to be invited to sail on the two night travel agent pre-inaugural cruise on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world. She has so many amenities and venues and the most exciting thing I have ever seen at sea: The "Flow-Rider" simulated wave pool for surfing! It was great fun watching people surf and wipe out! They have Beach Boys music going all day and just in case you get hungry watching all those surfers, Johnny Rockets is right around the corner! The Freedom also has the H2o Zone, which is a water park for children (and young at heart adults!) complete with brightly colored squirting fountains, water falls and wading pools. They also have a boxing ring, a full court basketball court, miniature golf, and the "cantilevered" whirlpools that extend 12 feet over the ocean! Never fear, there is a full floor to ceiling window so you aren't just hanging mid-air over the ocean but it is awesome to say the least. Each "Adventure Ocean" area is broken down for little tots, children and teens and they all have their own rooms and special amenities onboard.
